Hey guys, in the painting rating it says:

15 points - Your army is finished, all bases are painted, the models looks to be from the same army.

Now I'm planning to play with allies, but since I'm not a boring person, my allies are on snow bases while my main army is on desert bases - it would be nice if this doesn't affect the rating negatively since I still painted them myself

Sounds pretty clear to me.

So allies and Primary need to have The same bases?

Haha, my army is fighting along the terminator, one side is scorching desert and the other freezing night, so badass

I just think it would be a bit lame that using allies prevents people from getting painting points no matter how nice they are, as almost nobody bases 2 armies the same way.

You can always do a display board where the ones with the frozen bases are ontop of a mountain and the desert guys in a desert

That's old ways Of thinking. Since allies have arrived armies should be based The same.

Why should allies be allowed to be painted otherwise?

An I allowed to take a tyranid army with two different basings and say "it's two different hive fleets"?

You can try to ally tyranids with tyranids but that might be sorta illegal I personally would never start an army only because I want to ally them with my main army, and I really got bored of desert bases after 2 armies now.

I won't have time to make a display base I fear, too much to paint still and I'm slow :/
